FYI - Tax incentive of $8,000 when you buy your First Home or $6,500
if you're not a First-time Homebuyer and you've owned your home for the
past 5 years. If you are considering buying a home, or if you know of
someone, you may find this information very useful to take advantage
of the tax incentives. The IRS is offering a tax credit of $8,000 for first-time
homebuyers and $6,500 if you are not a first-time homebuyer and you
have owned a home for the past 5 years. A tax credit is different from a
deduction, tax credits literally put money back in your pocket when you file
your taxes (or ammend them). These incentives ARE NOT LOANS like it has been done in the past, you don't have to pay it back unless you sell your
property within the next 3 years.
The deadline is April 30th to be under contract and you have to close
before June 30th. There are restrictions if your income exceeds certain limits.
